Q. What’s diving in Scotland like? Is it cold?
A. Scottish diving is some of the best in the world; far better than you’d ever possibly dream and modern drysuits are designed to keep you warm and dry - yes dry! Diving in Scotland can be MORE comfortable than a wetsuit in warmer water. But its the C-life that’s incredible in Scotland.
Q. My young son/daughter wants to dive?
A. We are sorry but due to red tape we cannot teach under 16s. You are also well advised to be fully grown before you start buying your own equipment.
Q. How many dives before I am qualified?
A. If you are good then there are only 5 pool dives and 4 sea dives but we prefer you to take things steadily, its all to do with practice & safety, you’ll still be learning after 100 dives!
Q. Can I use the club equipment in the sea?
A. No, it’s only for pool use, you’ll need to buy or hire your own.
Q. How much is SCUBA gear?
A. It gets cheaper every year. Full sets start from £1200 to £2000 and good second-hand from £800.
Q. Would a club member help me buy the right stuff?
A. Of course, we regularly go with students to help them choose the most suitable for their budget.
Q. I’m confused about the qualifications?
A. We want all divers to be a minimum of SAA Club Diver or PADI Rescue, but if you’re keen you will keep going with your training and before you know it you could find yourself showing a new member how to GO DIVE!

Meet us at the famous Olympic Dollan Aqua Centre, East Kilbride every Wednesday at 7.15pm from Sep to May.
